Award-winning conductor, arts strategist and software developer

I'm a career-changer to software and web development, having worked as an award-winning orchestral conductor on the world's stages for the last 10 years. I'm currently a Software Development Engineer Apprentice with Amazon (L3).

I am the Founder of Scordatura, a platform for exploring my interest in the intersection of the arts and digital technology, and the possibilities for heightened creativity in real-world and networked spaces. It is a web and mobile development agency, and hosts an online learning platform for music leadership. I also use it to publish a blog and newsletter.

I'm passionate about smart solutions for a cleaner and fairer world, commissioning new creative work and skewing society towards seeing the arts as something to do rather than something to consume. I'm a maker, a solutions-strategist, and a champion for kindness.

In my music life, I am Artistic Advisor at Symphony Nova Scotia, and on the Advisory Council and guest teaching faculty for OAcademy. Until recently, I was Music Director of Symphony Nova Scotia from 2020-2025, and Co-Chair of the Board for formidAbility, the UK's only majority disability-led opera company for 10 years.

I have recorded for BBC Radio 3 and CBC, and am regularly invited to speak on the classical music sector, cultural change and strategy. My first major commercial recording with Decca, a collaboration with Isata Kanneh-Mason and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, reached #1 on the UK classical charts, and my performance work has allowed me to travel to nearly every continent on the planet, and perform for audiences spanning from the British Royal Family and Europe’s political elites, to Scotland’s homeless and refugee communities.

I am an alumna of the Sasakawa Youth Leadership Fellowship, was a Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship Prizewinner in 2013, and have a PhD in Music Iconography. In 2016, Zonta New Zealand named me one of New Zealand's Top 50 Women of Achievement.
